Chris Hladowski is a multi-instrumentalist based in West Yorkshire. He teaches Turkish baglama-saz and Greek bouzouki and is also available for those interested in Afghan rubab or guitar tuition. He has been performing, researching and writing music for over a decade, performing with groups such as A Hawk and a Hacksaw, Nalle, The One Ensemble, and his own band The Family Elan. He has also collaborated with a wide variety of musicians, from the Moroccan musical brotherhood The Master Musicians of Joujouka, to Hans Joachim Irmler of the German Krautrock band Faust, and the late John Tchicai. He has an Mmus in Ethnomusicology from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) with specialisms in folk music from the Middle East and South Asia, though he also has a working knowledge of many other styles and genres, from British folk music to contemporary rock.
